Albrecht Becker (1906-2002) was one of the last people who survived the Nazi suppression of homosexuals, which started in 1933 with the implementation of Paragraph 175. Imprisoned in Nuremberg from 1935 to 1938, he then decides to enrol in the army. On the Russian front he starts taking photos. After the war he dedicates himself to his job as a cinema production designer and scenographer. Becker had started to "decorate" his body in 1943, practicing the art of tattoos and piercing and taking photos of his progressive transformations. Lebrun puts the spotlight on the body of Becker, with photographs resembling landscapes of a body which, by its constant mutations and history, left a mark on its century.

As the title itself suggests, "Allen Ginsberg Gives Great Head" is partly inspired by the late American writer best known for his landmark poem "Howl". The reason why the title is "Gives Great Head" instead of gives good head is because the writer himself had expressed the desire to be remembered as one who gave "great head" in his eulogy. It was shot in two days and made without hope of it ever being screened in his native country Singapore, where censorship laws remain strict towards its own citizens' work. It is a meditation on loneliness and the angst of living in Singapore, a young Republic that headily dreams of being a First World country even as it practises insidious social and political repression of a "unique" order. When Singapore announced that it is now "gay tolerant", it also warned that it is doing so for the Pink Dollar and not anything to do with gay rights. Perhaps, it truly deserves its self-appointed title "Uniquely Singapore"! In this respect, "Allen Ginsberg Gives Great Head" offers a uniquely chilling view of an outsider living in uniquely repressive Singapore.

He responded that he was on his own, he had seen the party from the street, and thought he would drop in. It was apparent that he was on drugs and had been awake for too many hours, if not consecutive days. At some point when it was late and everyone was really high, the guy wandered into another room alone. He listened to the voices in the party room and masturbated. I filmed him. William E. Jones's new body of work was inspired by his parallel career as an archivist in the gay adult video industry. In the course of viewing hundreds of hours of porn, he has developed a fascination with its marginalia: establishing shots revealing urban landscapes of the recent past, charmingly inept dialogue scenes, and close-ups of performers, many now dead. This material, while of no particular commercial use, can be seen as an invaluable document of a lost world of eroticism and sociability. For his videos, in a variation on what DJs call a "mash-up," Jones combines segments of sound with segments of picture, making decisions based upon the length of the segments rather than their content. "V. O." draws from the non-sexual scenes of gay porn films produced before 1985, such as Tom De Simone's "Confessions of a Male Groupie", Fred Halsted's "L. A. Plays Itself", and Joe Gage's "Kansas City Trucking Co.", "El Paso Wrecking Corp.", and "L. A. Tool and Die", and pairs them with fragments of the soundtracks of European art films not distributed in the U. S. The somewhat arbitrary juxtaposition of diverse "found" materials often yields surprisingly appropriate results, suggesting a new narrative space, and paying tribute to a former era of gay life and cinephilia.
