More audience and more guests populated the 2nd Pornfilmfest Berlin which closed with a glamorous prize ceremony on Sunday October 28th, 2007. The international jury Tat Escobar, Madrid; Isabel McEwen, Hamburg; and Hubertus Leischner, Berlin gave the following prizes: the first prize went to Joe Gallant, New York for "Atomic Skullfuck Orgy". The second prize went to Bruce LaBruce, Toronto for the film "Give Piece of Ass a Chance", and an honorable mention went to both "Dinner for a Cocksucker" by Alfio Tombolato, Venice and "Sex Mannequin" by Maria Beatty, Paris.
Lively discussions of the screened films, exciting workshops, interesting lectures and flamboyant parties made the 2nd Pornfilmfestival the event of October 2007. Audacia Ray, who presented her film "The Bi-Apple", has written about her experiences and adventures during the festival in her pointed personal blog. In spite of all the vivid exchanges again pornography was not reinvented, still the guests and festival audience were able to come to a few new realizations. We, the organizers of the festival, wish to thank all participating filmmakers and the other guests for their contributions and we hope that we can present many controversial works again next year. Please send your short and long films, videos, performance and workshop ideas to us by May 1st, 2008 so that we do not suffer from withdrawl.
The growing international attention has lead to the founding of the Association of Pornfilmfestivals in Europe (APE). Member Pornapes will organize a Pornfilmfestival in January of next year in Athens for the second time. As new sites of the sexual revolution Madrid in April and Paris in June have joined. Rumour has it that the seed has come up and we have heard of pornographic festival activities in Tokyo (October) and Amsterdam (November). Joe Gallant will try to organize a festival in New York next year. This growing number of festivals enables the filmmakers and artists to present their works apart from the mainstream to an even greater international audience. Soon we will have the contact information of the other festivals here on our site so that you can submit your films there directly.
As in every year we are looking for films, money, accommodations and inspiration. Spread the word and let us know!
